Current Activity
for Spring
May 2013
The past 10 days were a blur. The week of May 13 we planted 90% of our corn crop, planted our sunflowers and sprayed fungicide on our wheat. For the most part we missed the rain showers forecasted for the week.
The corn went into the ground in nice shape and emerged in 5 days. Two inches of rain on May 20 caused some pounding and some later planted corn will need areas of the field replanted. Still we are thankful for the progress so far. The weather pattern still seems to be bringing rain every few days.
When is dries we have corn to spray, soybeans to plant, corn to side dress, hay to mow. Needless to say, it is going to be a busy summer. |
